POWER OF GRATITUDE

We could not be where we are or who we are without the contributions of others.

Did you know?
September 21st is a World Gratitude Day. A day when the world reflects on what they are thankful for, and what makes their world great

Gratitude

Gratitude is simply being grateful/ thankful for what one has or receives in life, whether small or big, reflecting on the source, and reciprocating the same or more to others. Here lies a magical power to shift one's negative outlook on life to a better one.

Gratitude Impact

Healthwise, it diminishes stress levels and improves sleep quality, immunity, and cardiovascular health conditions.
Professionally, it boosts motivation and enhances better work performance.
Socially, it strengthens individuals' friendships, fosters a spirit of kindness, and leads to a satisfactory and contentment life.

Interesting fact

A single act of sincere gratitude triggers an immediate 10% increase in happiness and a 35% reduction in depressive symptoms.

The more we appreciate, the more good things we start to notice in our lives.

The Science Behind Gratitude Benefits

When we express gratitude, the brain reward center gets activated and then starts releasing two

neurotransmitters ( serotonin and dopamine) that elevate our emotions and make us feel good and happy.

Fostering Workplace Gratitude:

  • Establish a Gratitude Wall: This can be used to acknowledge individuals' contributions in a workplace. People in the organization would be welcome to express their gratitude to anyone who impacts their lives.

For instance:

  1. I appreciate XXXX for her dedication to preparing nutritious and delicious meals.
  2. Thank you, XXX for your humble and receptive heart.
  3. XXXX, your kind and compassionate spirit is highly appreciated.
  4. Your lifestyle is an inspiration to me

  • Celebrate World Gratitude Day: Every year on September 21st, an organization can celebrate this day by appreciating everyone for his or her contribution to the organization.
  • Provide meaningful feedback or compliments.
  • Create a flexible working environment and grant workers opportunities such as workshops or training to enhance professional development.

Key Takeaway

Appreciating carries a paramount impact on both the recipient and the giver. It does not have to be necessarily a huge gesture. A smile, a sincere compliment, a hug, a small act of kindness, and a random thank you note, can do wonders in someone's life. Therefore make it a regular habit or practice to always express gratitude to those who impact your life. This will brighten their day, improve their lives, and strengthen bonds and relationships.

Moreover, whenever negative thoughts arise, redirect your focus to the blessings( both small and huge) you possess. Consequently, those negativities will all vanish, and you will experience joy, peace, and happiness in your life again.

Food for Thought

Reflect on life without those you treasure, impact your life, or hold a special place in your heart. How would your life turn out to be? How does this motivate you to openly practice a habit of expressing gratitude to them? Whether through a heartfelt note, an email, a meaningful conversation, or a thoughtful gift, your gesture can have a paramount impact on them.

Always remember to be specific about what you value and appreciate in them.
